Sunday, December 3

Today is Sunday of Week 14. This is the last weekend, so make sure you have your plan in mind for finishing up the semester using the Week 14 and Week 15 assignments. Those assignments are available via the Class Calendar. No need to wait; all the remaining assignments are ready to go!

Class Procedures and Reminders

End of Week 14. Many of you will be finishing up the class today; if you have kept up with the assignments each week, you should have enough points to finish up now. If you missed any assignments in earlier weeks, you can use the Dead Week assignments (Week 15) to finish up. When you get to the points you need (410/A, 360/B, 320/C), you can fill out this form to let me know you are done.

Project Stack. On Monday, I'll start replying to the assignments in the order they were turned in. Especially if you will be doing a project assignment for Week 15, the sooner you can turn in the Week 14 assignment, the better. You can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

Extra Credit. If you are finishing up the class today, you can write up some famous last words that really are your famous last words for the semester! Find out more in the extra credit section of this week's assignments.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Class Twitter. From yesterday's Twitter @OnlineMythIndia, here is an article about a fascinating Indian tradition: Theyyam: When Gods Dance Among Men.

Mythology. Some of you in Myth-Folklore have been reading Dante as one of the European units, so here is Dante's Inferno: Academic Edition.

Storybook Archive. This project is from the Indian Epics class: Hogwarts: The Loyalty of Brothers. Hogwarts is about to be attacked by Lord Ravana. They are going to need the help of some ancient heroes in order to fight back.

Story of the Day. Today's story is from the collection of Indian folktales by Shovona Devi: The Moon in the Well. When the moon disappears behind the clouds, the monkeys decide to find and rescue her.

Video: The video for today is a great example of telling a story without words: Tiny Hamster is a Giant Monster. Find out more at Tiny Hamster channel.

Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat is on the move: Standing still is not growth. Take a step forward. You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.

December 3: International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The United Nations has declared December 3 to mark the observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and the theme for 2017 is A Sustainable and Resilient Society for All. You can learn more about the disability rights movement in this Wikipedia article, which also lists additional resources.
