Tuesday, April 20

Today is Tuesday of Week 13. (Yes, it really is Week 13... which still just seems hard to believe!) Here's a link to Week 13, and also a link to Week 14 for those of you who are working ahead.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Week 13 Reading. It's more stories from the British Isles in Myth-Folklore, and the free choice continues in Indian Epics: epics, jatakas, or other Indian stories. I hope you will enjoy the reading this week and find something really good to use for the storytelling; for many of you, this Week 13 story might be your last story post of the semester!

Project Stack. Yesterday I replied to all the projects turned in on Friday, and today I will be working on the Saturday projects, and hopefully starting on the Sunday items too. Meanwhile, you can check the stack to make sure I received your project.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog stream. Here is a truly beautiful item from the blog stream: Cheyenne has had her baby! She updated her Introduction post to share the good news. So adorable!

Twitter stream. An IMPORTANT message from OU Health Services: have you been vaccinated? (I'm getting my second Pfizer today!). Find out more about vaccination appointments available through OU Health Services: OU COVID Vaccine Updates.

From one of my favorite Twitter streams, the Postal Museum (stamps are art!):

And something mythological in New York City:

And from Scroll.in, an article about Vinayaki: the female avatar of Ganesha.

And a traditional dance from Assam in India:

A comic from Grant Snider about books and bookshelves (larger view): I like the optical illusion "impossible" bookcase!

April 20: Odilon Redon. Today marks the birthday of the French symbolist painter Odilon Redon in 1840. If you have never seen his paintings, take a look: they are marvelous! You can see a gallery at Wikipedia. Here is his painting called The Cyclops:

Plus a video of other works by Redon:
