Monday, February 5

Today is Monday. Week 3 is now over... and Week 4 has begun. This week's topic in the Myth-Folklore class is Classical and Biblical stories once again, and in Indian Epics you will be continuing with the Ramayana. You can find the week's assignments at the Class Calendar.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Success Tips: Check your progress. The class is now 20% over (check out the meter in the blog sidebar to see what that looks like!), so you might want to use this Chart to check how you are doing. The chart shows totals week by week so you can gauge whether you are on track for the grade you want to receive. If you are not on track, just make sure you do more of the assigned work, along with some extra credit to make up any assignments you might have missed.

Project Stack. As usual on Monday, the project stack is huge! I'll be working through the assignments in order, and while you are waiting on comments back from me about your Project assignment, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

February 5: Inayat Khan. Today, February 5, marks the anniversary of the death of the great Indian Sufi, Inayat Khan, in the year 1927. Inayat Khan's teachings centered on Tawhid, or unity, as in the ten pronouncements on unity which you can read about in this Wikipedia article. Inayat Khan was also trained as a music master, sharing both Indian Sufism and music with Western audiences:

This video gives an overview of Inayat Khan's life:
