Happy Weekend, everybody! Today is Saturday of Week 6. Here is a link to the Week 6 assignments, and to Week 7 also.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. On Friday, I replied to all the Week 5 assignments in the stack, with just a few Week 6 and Week 7 assignments I did not get to, so those will be at the top of the stack on Monday. Meanwhile, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email; I'll update the stack periodically over the weekend.

Project Feedback. Now that the Portfolios and Storybooks are in place, the project feedback can really get started. So when you get to the Week 6 Feedback assignment, you'll see a new randomizer: instead of randomizing the blogs, it randomizes the projects!

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. Some people tried the Twine options for the Story Lab this week, and Jack made one for the infamous dice game in the Mahahbarata: Twine Game of Dice.

Free Book Online. Today's free book is Nine Ideal Indian Women by Sunity Devee. This is a great resource for the epics and also for anyone interested in Indian heroines.

Free Audiobook. Today's free audiobook is The Children of Odin: A Book of Northern Myths by Padraic Colum, with illustrations by Willy Pogany.

Featured Storybook. Here's a Storybook inspired by Post Secret: Post Secret Sanskrit: The Panchakanya. This collection of Post Secret stories, together with postcards, is told by the Panchakanya, the five women of the epics: Ahalya, Draupadi, Kunti, Tara, and Mandodari.

India Video. Here's a short video from Epified: Powerful women of Hindu mythology.

Myth Video. This is one of the Crash Course videos: Mythical Trees.

Myth Item. Here's a great proverb about trees, and other big projects: The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago; the second-best time is now.

Writing. You've probably heard of palindromes, but what about word-unit palindromes? Mind your own business: Own your mind.

And here's a thought-provoking idea: Do it anyway.

Growth Mindset Cats. Yes, you might be scared to try something new but just do it: confidence will follow.

And here are some Tips to Boost Your Confidence.

Event on Campus. There will be a performance of Kafka’s Trial,  A Dramatic Reading at 7:30PM in the Weitzenhoffer Theatre, presented by students from the OU School of Drama (details). This is the cover of the first edition:

Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.

February 23: Majel Barrett. As a lifelong fan of Star Trek, I am also a fan of Majel Barrett whose birthday is today. She was born in 1932 and died in 2008; her husband, Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, died in 1991. She played Nurse Chapel in the original series and Lwaxana Troi in Next Generation and in DS9, while also providing the computer voice those series, plus Voyager. Here you can see her in her original series days, and in Next Generation:
