HAPPY WEEKEND! Today is Saturday of Week 3. If you have some assignments to finish up, here is a link to Week 3, and also to Week 4 if you are ready to move on ahead to those assignments.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Extra credit Tech Tips. Now that you are looking at other people's blogs, you might get some ideas for features you want to add to your blog, and there are extra credit Tech Tips to help you with blog design experiments, along with all kinds of other extra credit options too.

Project Stack. As people turn in assignments, I'll update the stack periodically so you can check the stack to make sure I got yours. Then on Monday I'll start replying to the assignments in the stack based on the order in which they were turned in. If you turn it in sooner, you will get comments back sooner. :-)

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. There are so many cute pictures of pets in the Introduction posts, and here's one of some very well behaved cats and a dog from Jill's Introduction post. What a great picture!

Twitter Stream. Here's a fun word from A Word A Day at Twitter: bibliophage, someone who loves to read books, a bookworm. That would be me. :-)

Storybooks. This is a wonderful Egyptian Storybook from last year: Asking Anubis.

100-Word Stories. Today's story is a folktale from India about first impressions: The Lion and the Ram (click title for more info).

Indian Epics Today. The Ramayana character for today is Kaikeyi; here you can see her with her servant Manthara. More about Kaikeyi.

Indian Epics. This is an aetiological story with an epic character: The Origin of the Coconut. Yes, this is the same Vishvamitra who is Rama's guru in the Ramayana.

Myth-Folklore Video. Here's another of the Crash Course videos; this time it's Noah's Ark and Floods in the Ancient Near East.

H.E.A.R.T.. And here's a thought in honor of the weekend from Molly Hahn of Buddha Doodles: No rush.

HEART Video. The pace of nature knows not to rush... as you can see in this time-lapse video accompanied by Brian Eno's Just Another Day.

Mindset Cats. The mindset cat agrees: It takes time for potential to flower.

Event on Campus. There will be a free guitar recital by Gabriel Guillén at 7:30PM in Pitman Recital Hall (details).

February 1: Langston Hughes. Today, February 1, marks the birthday of the African-American poet, Langston Hughes, who was born in 1902. He was one of the luminaries of the Harlem Renaissance, and you can read about his remarkable life and career in this Wikipedia article.
