Tuesday, March 10

Today is Tuesday of Week 9. Here is a link to Week 9 and also a link to Week 10 for those of you who are working ahead. This week is spread out over Spring Break, with the regular Tues-Wed-Thurs reading and storytelling, and then the rest of Week 9 goes until March 22, the Sunday at the end of Break (see the calendar).

Class Procedures and Reminders

Coronavirus news. It's still not clear what OU will be doing in response to the Coronavirus, but I'm guessing there will be news soon; the OU Daily is always a good place to check for the latest information. We're already online for this class, and if OU decides to put other classes online as a precaution, I hope you'll be able to put your tech skills from this class to good use!

Project Stack. If you turned in a project on before Sunday, you should have comments back from me, and I'll be working on the Sunday items today. As always, you can check the stack to make sure I received your assignment.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. This is one of my favorite extra credit options: creating a meme for your own mindset motto. This one is from Hannah: Just Leap!

Twitter Stream. I've been following a lot of useful Corona info sources at Twitter, and I especially appreciate the items people have shared that are both fun and useful... like this generator: WashYourLyrics.com. Enter a song and artist, and it will generate a handwashing poster with the lyrics of your song:

A Bigger Bookshelf. Today's book is Zuni Mythology by Ruth Benedict. You can find out more about the Zuni people at Wikipedia.

Indian Epics Today. Today's post is about Surya, the Sun-God. More about Surya. He is the cosmic father of one of the Mahabharata heroes: Karna.

Storybooks. This is a Storybook from Indian Epics last year all about Karna: The Ill-fated Hero.

Myth-Folklore Video. Here's a video about a Japanese story some of you may have read / may be reading in Myth-Folklore: Urashima Taro.

Proverbs. And here is a great proverb from China about the power of asking questions:

H.E.A.R.T.. This infographic is all about the Power of "I Don't Know" (yet).

Mindset Cats. This mindset cat advises: Question everything!

Mindset Video. This is an endorsement from Tim Ferriss on asking questions:

Event on Campus. There will be a roundtable on Arts in Contemporary Africa from 12PM-1:15PM in Dale Hall Tower, 9th Floor Community Room... pizza will be served too (details).

March 10: Purim. The Jewish holiday of Purim celebrates the events described in the Book of Esther in the Bible. Esther saved her people from the evil Haman, who was plotting to destroy them. You can read more about Purim in this Wikipedia article. And for your viewing enjoyment, here is Raise Your Mask - Purim by the Ein Prat Fountainheads in Israel:
