Class Procedures and Reminders
P/NP. I know the Covid announcements post was really long, and P/NP was way down on the list so I wanted to make sure everybody understands how that works; it will be an option for all OU classes this semester (and, personally, I think this option should be available all the time, not just this semester!). So, if you have not read about the P/NP option for this semester, take a look at the policy here along with detailed FAQs: Spring 2020 Grade Policy (FAQs down below on that page).
Project stack. There are a few projects in the stack now, and I'm trying to keep up with those each day so that those of you who do have time to work on your projects now can just go go go! As always, you can check the stack to make sure I received your project.
The following items are for fun and exploration:
Blog Stream. There have been so many microfiction experiments, and Dani did one inspired by folklore here; so cool! With the Tick, Tick, Ticking of the Clock.
And for a Covid-related item, I wanted to share this great resource via Cate Denial, a professor who's active at Twitter:
I got to fit in stuff like this map of what ~150 years of colonization looks like. (Native American land loss from 1776 to 1930) which took me forever to animate so I made a gif of it pic.twitter.com/4XLX3KfGKq— Ranjani Chakraborty (@ranjchak) October 14, 2019
You can find out more about this map of Native American tribes here and you can click here for a larger view.
Indian Epics Today. The character of the day is Krishna's uncle, and nemesis, King Kamsa. You can read more about King Kamsa here. This shows the Goddess confronting the king:
Storybooks. Here's a wonderful storytelling experiment from the Indian Epics class a couple years ago: Post Secret Sanskrit: The Panchakanya.
Writing. Some of you are writing today, so here's a wonderful word about that: scripturient (adj.): having a consuming passion to write.
Mindset Video. With some encouraging words about growth mindset from Eduardo Briceno: Mindset and Success.
March 25: Tolkien Reading Day. This Tolkien celebration has been organized by the Tolkien Society since 2003 to encourage fans to celebrate and promote the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Check out the Twitter stream for information and fun stuff during the day, or click here for past announcements.
