Sunday, April 19

Today is Sunday of Week 13... yes, the end of Week 13 has arrived! Here is a link to Week 13 and also Week 12. (The grace period for Week 12 runs through this weekend so if you do want to do any of those Week 12 assignments, take advantage of that now.)

Class Procedures and Reminders

Finishing up. Now is a good time to finalize your plan for finishing up. The class is over on Friday, May 1, at noon, and you can see how that works on the class calendar. Let me know if you have any questions at all as you get ready to finish up!

Project Stack. I'll start working through the stack on Monday based on the order that the assignments were turned in. Like always, you can check the stack to make sure I received your project. And THANK YOU to those of you working on your projects: it's been great having something to read in the stack every day even in the midst of this weird semester.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. Hannah did the fortune cookie Tech Tip; here's the one she made: Finish strong. Stay strong. (She used the lucky number part to put the day there too!)

Twitter Stream.  Lots of museums have been promoting people imitating works of art in their own homes, and that is so fun to watch at Twitter; here's something from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston:

And for the Covid-related item, I wanted to share this fun cat-dog pair: two different takes on humans staying home (and see the dog in Friday's announcements if you missed that one; so cute!).

This cat is sewing its human a mask so the human can go out and the cat can have the house back:

Indian Epics Today. The character of the day is Kunti, wife of King Pandu and mother of the Pandava heroes Yudhishthira, Bhima, and Arjuna. More about Kunti here, and also in this Epified video:

Proverbs. Here's a proverb from Mali about the leopard: Goats cannot live in a herd of leopards.

Myth-Folklore Video. This is a traditional Anansi story: Anansi and the Snake.

Writing. If you are writing a story this weekend, ponder these words from J.K. Rowling: There's always room for a story that can transport people to another place.

HEART Video. Plus some advice from Alan Alda about empathy and perception: Grow Your Empathy Through Better Visual Perception.

April 19: Oklahoma City Bombing. Today is the 25th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. You can read more about that terrible event at Wikipedia. The image below shows the memorial:

And here is a video about the Survivor Tree, which is a beautiful testimony to life that goes on:
