HAPPY THANKSGIVING BREAK! You have reached the end of Week 13! The Week 13 Read and Respond assignment (blog commenting) is available now as usual, but you have all of the coming week in order to complete that - it is not due until after Thanksgiving. Below you will find specific information about the Week 13 deadlines during this holiday break.
Storybook stack. There are still a few assignments in the Storybook stack. If you turned in your assignment on Wednesday before 6PM, you should have comments back from me now. Assignments turned in later on Wednesday on or Thursday are probably still in the stack. You can check the contents of the stack to make sure I have received your assignment. If you would like comments back from me before the Thanksgiving Break, make sure you get it turned in by Friday at noon.
Friday, November 20 - Friday November 27. You have a full week off for Thanksgiving in this class. The Week 13, Week 14 and Week 15 assignments are available for any of you who want to work ahead and finish up the class. I'll be answering email on and off during this week, but I will not be grading any Storybook assignments until class starts up again on Monday, November 30, when I will start reading and responding to the Storybook assignments in the order they were turned in.
Saturday-Sunday, November 28-29 (AFTER THANKSGIVING). You need to make sure you finish up the Week 13 assignments on the weekend after Thanksgiving. You will have the usual end-of-week assignments due at that time: the Week 13 Internet assignment (nominating your favorite Storybooks!), the Week 13 Storybook assignment (for most of you, that means revising your final story), and the Week 13 Blog Comment assignment, along with the usual extra credit assignments.
Week 13 Read and Respond. For the blog comments, you will find that a lot of people have finished the class, so they may not have blog posts for the current week. That is not a problem - just go ahead and respond to any of their blog posts which catches your interest, preferably some posts that do not have comments already. So, if somebody does not have posts for Week 13, just go ahead and pick some other posts in their blog to comment on!
Week 13 Internet assignment. (repeat announcement) For the Week 13 Internet assignment, you will nominate your favorite Storybook projects in various categories, and you will also leave some thank-yous to the people whose comments were most helpful to you this semester. You have all of Thanksgiving break to complete this Internet assignment. Then, after Thanksgiving, on Monday afternoon, November 30, when everybody has submitted their nominations, I will put up a ballot based on the most nominated Storybooks. The voting is not for a grade or anything; it's just for fun, as a way to give the people who worked extra hard on their projects some extra recognition for their achievements!
Downs Family Christmas Lights. Kayleigh Downs, who is in the Myth-Folklore class, asked me to share this information about the Downs Family Christmas Lights Show up in Norman (2900 72nd Ave SE) - it looks like so much fun! The show begins Friday, November 20, and runs until January 2. The show beings at 6 PM every night and runs until midnight. The show is about 20 minutes long and then it repeats itself from 6 until 12 - with all the lights synchronized to Christmas music! You can find out more about the show and directions for how to get there at the website: DownsFamilyChristmas.com - with sneak preview videos you can watch online - WOW!
