OU-Texas Weekend. Because of the Friday holiday, these will be the last announcements this week. The Internet assignment is available now, so you should complete that if possible before you leave town. The Responding assignment does not becomes available until Friday, so I will extend the grace period on that one all day Monday, not just until noon - but that is the only change in the schedule. There is not an extension for the assignments that are ready for you to finish now. So, if you are planning to be away this weekend, please complete your other Week 8 assignments before hitting the road. Travel safely!!!
Storybook Stack. I'm still
working my way through the stack of Storybook assignments that people
have turned in this week. I am hoping to have a Friday holiday myself, so if you want comments back on your Storybook, please make sure you turn that in by Thursday noon. I will respond to all the Storybooks turned in by Thursday noon, either on Thursday or on Friday if necessary. If you want to check to make
sure your assignment is in the stack, you can see the contents of the stack here.
Week 8 Internet assignment. (repeat announcement)
The Week 8 Internet assignment is now available. For those of you who will be out of town this weekend, do the Internet assignment now. There is no reason to wait, and the sooner you can check that off your list, the better! There is also an extra credit option available as well, reading and commenting on your own Storybook the same way you are reading and commenting on the Storybooks of other students.
Writing - Revising. For
those of you on the regular Storybook schedule, you will be adding
your second story to your Storybook for Week 8. The pattern of the
last four weeks - writing, then revising - will repeat for the next
six weeks of the semester. In Week 8, Week 10, and Week 12, you will
be adding new stories to your Storybook. In Week 9, Week 11, and Week
13, you will be revising, along with some final revision assignments
to complete your project in Week 14 and Week 15. Those of you on an
alternate schedule will also be writing and revising, but in different
weeks. I know that for many of you having to do all this revising is
something unfamiliar, since in many university courses there is not a
lot of emphasis on revising. By including revision - lots of revision
- as part of the writing process, I hope everybody will wind up with
something they can be really proud of by the end of the semester!
Request from former student. A student in this class last semester, Katie Dubowski, is doing a survey for another class; it takes just 3-5 minutes and she would be very grateful if anyone has a few minutes to spare: Advertising Campaign Capstone Survey. (If anyone else has something like this they'd like me to include in the announcements, just let me know!)
Red River Shootout. This famous football rivalry game even has its own page at Wikipedia, which is the source for the image below that shows recent results. You can look at the Wikipedia article for the full chart going all the way back to the year 1900. Go Sooners!
