Class Procedures and Reminders
Out of Office. I will be out of the office most of the day on Thursday, so if you send me an email, I will get back to you on Thursday evening if it is something urgent; otherwise, I might not get back to you until Friday morning. I'm having follow-up from some eye surgery last summer; so, I'm not really sure what to expect on Thursday, but I hope to be back at work as usual on Friday!
Storybook/Portfolio Stack. There are still quite a few items in the stack. If you turned something in on Sunday, you should have comments back from me; if you turned something in on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, it is probably still in the stack. You can check to make sure your assignment is in the stack here.

November 6: Suleiman. Today marks the birthday in 1494 of Suleiman I, known as Suleiman the Magnificent, who ruled the Ottoman Empire as Sultan from 1520 to 1566, which was the peak of the Ottoman Empire's power. Suleiman was also famous for his cultural achievements, in addition to being a poet himself. You can read more about his life and career at Wikipedia. The beautiful Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, built in 1558 under the Sultan's orders, is still one of the most magnificent sights to see in that city.
