HAPPY FRIDAY! You have reached the end of Week 14! Here is a link to the class calendar, and you will find all the Week 15 assignments ready to go too.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. Today I should be able to get through all the assignments that were turned in before Friday, plus as many assignments from Friday as I can manage. So, if you are ready to turn something in, please do that! I'll be updating the stack so you'll be able to check the stack and see that I received your email.

One More Week! The class will be over one week from today, next Friday at noon. If you've been keeping up with the assignments, you'll be ready to finish now! If you missed some assignments earlier in the semester, you can use this coming week to finish up. When you get the points you need (410/A, 360/B, 320/C), then you are all done. If you have any questions about that, let me know!

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Myths. Check out the detailed view of this amazing diagram: Mythical Creatures.

Time. Wise words for the end of the semester: The Tunnel.

Words from India. Here is another word we get via Urdu: KHAKI.

Featured Storybook. This project is from the Indian Epics class: The Adventures of Rama and Lakshmana. As the Storybook begins, Rama is sitting at home, watching TV, trying to figure out just where things went so wrong. Rama fought so hard to be together with Sita... but somehow, things do not turn out as either of them had hoped.

Free Book Online: Today's free book is The Folklore of Plants by T. F. Thiselton Dyer. See the Freebookapalooza blog for links and the table of contents. This is a big book, over 300 pages long, full of legends and stories about plants.

Words of Wisdom: Today's saying is Without curiosity, there is no wisdom (a Polish proverb). Find out more at the Proverb Lab. The Polish version rhymes: Bez ciekawości nie ma mądrości.

Video: I learned about this lovely video from Lillie's blog: Gratitude. Find out more here about Brother David and about Louie Schwartzberg..

Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat is ready to change her point of view: Open your mind with a new perspective. You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.

Event on Campus: Come enjoy the 2017 Stompdown BBQ from 6PM to 9PM in Adams-Walker Mall (details). Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.

April 28: Terry Pratchett. Today is the birthday of Terry Pratchett, one of my own favorite authors. Happy Birthday, Terry Pratchett... we miss you! (Pratchett died in 2015.) Pratchett is best known for his Discworld fantasy series of novels. People debate about which is the best one to start with, but my feeling is that you can plunge in and enjoy yourself no matter where you begin; the first Discworld book I read was Thief of Time, and it's still one of my favorites.
