Today is Sunday of Week 13. If you have time for some extra credit assignments today, you will finish the class that much sooner! You can find all the assignments at the Class Calendar.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. I'll be updating the stack periodically today, so you can check the stack to confirm that I received your email.

Dead Week. If you've been doing the assignments each week, you will finish up during Week 14 (30 points per week means you will reach 410 points during Week 14), which means you will have a Dead Week in this class. It's also fine if you want to use Week 15 to finish up; the class will be over on Friday, May 5, at noon. I've created a little reminder widget that you'll see in the blog sidebar here, and on the Week 13, Week 14, and Week 15 assignment pages, and if you have any questions about finishing the class, just let me know!

Featured Storybook. This project is from the Myth-Folklore class: Lost in the Woods: A Search Party in Peril. A young woman has gone missing in the woods, and her friends are determined to find out what has happened to her. They spread out into four separate search parties, facing the darkness with only flashlights — and stories — to help them find their way.


Free Book Online: Today's free book is The Picturebook Ramayana edited by H. Daniel Smith. See this blog post for links and the table of contents. This is a wonderful free coloring book based on the Ramayana!


Words of Wisdom: Today's saying is Every dog has his day (an English proverb). Find out more at the Proverb Lab. This proverb is so famous that it shows up in the Wiktionary.

April 23: Yom Ha-Shoah. Today at sundown the Yom Ha-Shoah begins, the "Day of the Holocaust," in remembrance of the victims of the Nazis. You can read more about this memorial holiday in Wikipedia, and also learn about the term Shoah. This holiday is observed throughout the state of Israel, with special ceremonies taking place at Yad Vashem, which is the official Holocaust memorial in Israel.
