Sunday, September 24

Today is Sunday of Week 5. You need to finish the end-of-week assignments today, and you might also want to do some extra credit, especially if you missed some assignments during the week (I know a lot of people had tests in other classes, so last week was kind of crazy). You can find all the assignments for this week and next week at the Class Calendar.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. I'll update the stack today, and then first thing on Monday I'll update the class project list with all the new Storybooks that have Introductions now plus the new Portfolios. While you are waiting on comments back from me about your Project assignment, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

Extra Credit. A nice extra credit option for the end of the week is Backup and Review! Find out more in the extra credit section of this week's assignments.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Class Twitter. From yesterday's Twitter @OnlineMythIndia, an infographic about Chandraghanta, and you can find out more at Wikipedia.

Punctuation. If you're wondering why it's so easy to make comma errors, it's because we make commas do so much work! Find out more at The 15 Punctuation Marks in Order of Difficulty. And... Happy Punctuation Day!

Storybook Archive. This project is from the Indian Epics class: Rama and the Other Avatars. Imagine a young boy growing up in Montana who learns that he is an avatar of Vishnu, a new Rama for the 21st century, with rakshasas to battle. Luckily, he will have some help from Mohini, Vamana, and Agastya.

Free Book Online: Today's free book is Human Animals by Frank Hamel. See the Freebookapalooza blog for links and the table of contents. You will find werewolves here, along with were-foxes, plus bird-women, human snakes, and more.

Story of the Day. Today's story is from Aesop's fables: The Frogs and the Battle of the Bulls. If you're a frog... watch out!

Video: The video for today is Stranger Aliens. Find out more at Aeon.

Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat is about feedback: Feedback reveals your potential. You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.
