Saturday, April 28

Today is Saturday of Week 14. This is the last weekend for this class, so if you normally do your classwork on the weekends, this is the time to finish up!

Week 14 and Week 15. All the assignments are ready to go now, including the blog commenting and project feedback for Week 15, so there is no reason to wait. You can find all the links at the class calendar.

Project Stack. I sent around reminders on Friday about the Week 14 Project, and if you have any questions, let me know. I'll be updating the stack periodically over the weekend, so you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

Blog Stream. Jessica wrote a blog post about adding a soundtrack to her final Storybook story: Embedding a video in my Storybook.

ICYMI: In Case You Missed It. Here are some of my favorite items from announcements earlier in the semester. The items below come from Week 5 and Week 6.

H.E.A.R.T.: And here's a calming graphic for the weekend: Three Seconds.

Writing: You can never have too much punctuation humor: All the Commas.

Video: Here's a great video from TEDxOU about empathy and sharing your own stories (Jake in this video was a student in Myth-Folklore then!): Empathetic Storytelling.

Words from India. Here is a lovely word in English that comes from India: BANGLE.

Myth Item. Here is a map of Monsters in America.

India Video: I shared this video way back at the start of the semester, and now everybody in Indian Epics will understand all the characters mentioned in the lyrics: MC Yogi's Hanuman, with some great kirtan from Krishna Das too:

H.E.A.R.T.: As a lifelong weirdo, I really like this graphic! Make your weird light shine bright.

Writing: Here are some wise words from Carl Sagan in a beautiful Buddha Doodle to inspire your writing:

India Video: Here's some wonderful Maati Baani music for the weekend: Funky Pawa.

Event on Campus: It's the Norman Music Festival this weekend! (details). Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.

April 28: Terry Pratchett. Today is the birthday of Terry Pratchett, one of my own favorite authors, best known for his Discworld fantasy series of novels. After being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's, Pratchett died in 2015; you can find out more about his life and career at Wikipedia.

This image comes from an obituary: We Love You, Terry Pratchett.

Here is a BBC news tribute on his passing:
