Class Procedures and Reminders
Author's note. As you write your story this week, try to make your author's note really useful to your readers. Remember: the odds are that they have not even read the story that you started from, and even if they read it, they probably have not read that particular story as closely and carefully as you have. So, make sure to share your knowledge in the note. Your readers are depending on you! Here are some more author's notes tips.
Project Stack. If you turned in your project on or before 8PM on Sunday, you should have comments back from me now, and my goal is to get through the rest of the Sunday assignments today. As always, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.
#ItsNotScaryItsCanvas. There was a wonderful series of Halloween-inspired Canvas tweets yesterday with this hashtag. Most of them were intended for instructors, but some apply to students also, like this fun tip on customizing your dashboard (yes, it's a Tech Tip you can do too!).
At Halloween you can be a Witch, a Mummy or even a Monster and your @CanvasLMS dashboard can also fit your style! #ItsNotScaryItsCanvas— Paul Towers (@towers1983) October 31, 2018

Project Stream. I wanted to share this beautiful example of an animated gif image being used as background in a text box at Google Sites. It's from Haley's project for Indian Epics: Hidimbi's Twins. And be sure to check out her author's note where she explains just how this design element echoes the theme of the story. Very cool!
India Video. And here is a video about a dance tradition from India: Revelations: Celebrating LGBTQ Stories Through Bharathanatyam.
India Item. Here is one of my favorite Krishna stories in an ACK comic book on Reserve in Bizzell: The Parijata Tree.
Writing. Unleash your imagination! In the words of Carl Sagan: Without imagination, we go nowhere.
And if you need a nap, take a nap! How Long to Nap.
Growth Mindset Cats. The growth mindset cat knows that resting is part of the creative process.
But falling asleep from boredom is not resting. Here's a great story: The Sleeper.
Event on Campus. OU Hillel and the Schusterman Center are hosting a vigil at noon today; it will take place at the Hillel office on Elm (details).
All Saints Day. The meaning of Halloween is "Eve of All Hallows" (Hallow-Evening), i.e. the Eve of All Saints, which is celebrated today, November 1; you can find out more at Wikipedia: All Saints. In many countries, this is a day for visiting graveyards and bringing flowers in memory of the dead. This photo shows a Polish graveyard decorated for the holiday, which is called "Wszystkich Świętych" in Polish:
