Class Procedures and Reminders
Read like a writer. Remember that your reading notes are meant to help you when you tell a story inspired by this week's reading. So, you need to read all the pages, but don't try to take notes on everything. Instead, keep the focus on the specific story/episode(s) that you would like to tell in your own way. More tips here. As you get more practice writing stories, you'll be able to see just what kinds of notes you find most helpful.
Project Stack. I've replied to all the assignments turned in on Sunday, and today I'll be working on assignments turned in on Monday and later during the week. While you are waiting on comments back from me, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

January 30: Assassination of Gandhi. On January 30 in 1948, Mohandas Gandhi was assassinated. The image below shows the memorial in New Delhi where Gandhi's body was cremated. Written in gold letters on the black stone, just behind the burning stick of incense, are the words are "Hey Ram" (Oh Rama!), which were reportedly the words Gandhi uttered as he was shot. It is a matter of controversy as to whether those were Gandhi's last words, but here is something he wrote in December 1947, just weeks before his assassination: "In the end it will be as Rama commands me. Thus I dance as He pulls the strings. I am in His hands and so I am experiencing ineffable peace."
