Class Procedures and Reminders
Project Pages in Canvas. You may have noticed a new link in the Canvas navigation: next to the Blogs, there's a link for Projects too. That will take you to a page with the Project slideshow for your class, and you can also see the slideshow on the class project lists. I'll be updating the slides if people change their web design, title, etc. If you notice that I have not updated your slide, you can let me know!
Project Stack. I'll check my email periodically today so that you can check the stack to make sure I received your email. The sooner you get that assignment turned in, the sooner you'll get comments back from me next week.
Week 6 Project Feedback. For those of you who are working ahead, the Week 6 Project Feedback randomizers are now available! There are now lots of projects ready for you to read and comment on.
The following items are for fun and exploration:
Blog Stream. I know there are a lot of psychology majors in this class, so you might enjoy this great cartoon that Madison found: Athenian Psychiatry Center (and you can click here for a larger view).
Free Audiobook. Today's free audiobook is Egyptian Tales by W. M. Flinders Petrie.
Myth Video. Here's a video about comic book universes and the films made about them: The Mythic Potential of Comic Book Films.
Myth Item. Consider also the storytelling power of Legos: The Brick Testament.... including the Garden of Eden of course:
And here is some "oh no, it's the end of the week again" humor... because we all know this feeling: Stages of Procrastination.
Growth Mindset Cats. This cat knows learning can be social: I get support from my peers.
Here's a great video about connecting: Empathy: The Human Connection. I would especially urge those of you going into the health professions to take a look at this one!
Event on Campus. Today is your last chance to see Rodelinda, in which both George and Hunter are appearing! There will be a 3PM matinee performance today (details).
February 17: Loreena McKennit. Today marks the birthday in 1957 of the Canadian musician Loreena McKennit. Happy birthday, Loreena! Loreena has done wonderful work with traditional ballads and melodies from Celtic and Middle Eastern traditions and has created a distinctive wonderful style all her own. You can read about her work and career in this Wikipedia article, and you can listen to her marvelous rendition of the traditional ballad, The Highwayman, here at YouTube.com.
