Sunday, March 10

Today is Sunday of Week 8, so you'll want to finish up the the Week 8 assignments today, along with any extra credit you want to do. Starting the new week on Sunday is also a great strategy; here is a link to Week 9 if you want to get started on that now.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Mix-and-Match. As you move into the second half of the semester, remember that you can mix-and-match the assignments based on what you find most useful and/or most fun. Think about that as you finish up Week 8 and get ready for the regular assignments to start up again in Week 9.

Project Stack. I'll update the stack periodically today so that you can check the stack to make sure I received your email. If you have a free pass for Week 8, don't forget to send me that email, but I won't be putting those in the stack; that email is just so that you and I both know you had the pass for Week 8.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

March 10:  Bulgakov. Today marks the anniversary of the death in 1940 of the great Russian writer, Mikhail Bulgakov. Bulgakov is best known for his novel The Master and Margarita (here's a synopsis); some of the characters include the Devil himself, a black cat named Behemoth, various and sundry witches, as well as Pontius Pilate and Jesus Christ. Below is a statue of the cat Behemoth in the city of Kiev (now the capital of Ukraine), where Bulgakov was born in 1891.
