Saturday, November 7

Today is Saturday of Week 11. Here is a link to Week 11 ... and if you are ready to start Week 12, here's that link also: Week 12.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. There were still some projects left in the stack on Friday, so those will be at the top of the stack on Monday. Meanwhile, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email, and I hope you will enjoy visiting people's projects and leaving feedback this weekend. There are so many good stories out there!

Finishing up the class. A few more people finished the class last week, which is great to see. It's always nice to finish this class early if you have end-of-semester stuff to do in other classes, especially with the Thanksgiving break coming. I'd urge everybody to make a plan for finishing up, and if you have any questions about that, let me know.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog stream. Someone shared at the Check-in Padlet one of my favorite English sentences: the buffalo from Buffalo! Here's the video: One-word sentences and how they work.

Twitter stream. I noticed this lovely India item in Brain PickingsThe Secret Life of Trees.

And a beautiful writing prompt for concrete poetry

Using that prompt, here's something OU's own Professor Ward created: Another world is possible. Otro mundo es posibile.

Something funny from Tom Gauld: creative voting! (larger view)

Storybook. Here's a Twine game where you journey... into your own self! Enter the Labyrinth.

100-Word Stories. Plus here's a mouse who explores the world beyond the mouse-hole: The Mouse Observes the World.

This is a beautiful Twitter hashtag: #MuseumMomentOfZen ... and here's a Zen Moment item from LACMA:

And just to blow your mind: a backwards clock (it's in Bolivia). Time for a weird world!

This is a graduation film from The Animation Workshop, Denmark: amazing work! The Saga Of Biorn.

November 7: Jan Matulka. Today marks the birthday in 1890 of Jan Matulka, the great Czech-American painter; you can read about his life and career at Wikipedia. He also did book illustrations, including Parker Fillmore's Czech fairy tale books:

Here's a video about Matulka:
