Sunday, September 30

Today is Sunday of Week 6, and if you have not finished up the Week 6 assignments, today is the day to do that! You can also get started on Week 7, which is definitely a good idea if you will be out of town next weekend for the big game. (All the Week 7 assignments, including comments and feedback, are available now.)

Class Procedures and Reminders

Extra credit. There are all kinds of extra credit options which I hope can be fun and/or useful, and that's another good way to get ready if you are going to be out of town next weekend. There are lots of extra credit options, like the Tech Tips for example, or the Back-Up and Review option to check on your class progress so far.

Project Stack. The sooner you turn in your project today, the sooner you'll get comments back from me next week, and I'll update the stack periodically today so that you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

India Video. Here is an Epified video on Weapons of the Gods.

India Item. This is just one of many comic books on Reserve for Indian Epics in Bizzell: Ganga: The Divine Beauty. The cover shows the descent of the river Ganga to earth, landing on Shiva's head:

Writing. If you've ever wondered why commas are so confusing, take a look at this chart: The 15 Punctuation Marks. The poor comma has a lot of different jobs, more than any other punctuation mark!

Some advice for today, or any day: What You Do Today.

Growth Mindset Cats. What to do? Try doing something creative every day.

And as we move into the Fall season, here's a lovely Brian Eno video about the passage of time: Just Another Day.

September 30: Rumi. Today is traditionally regarded as the birthday in the year 1207 of the Persian mystical poet Rumi. To learn more about this remarkable 13th-century poet, surely one of the greatest poets in the history of the world, see Wikipedia, along with quotations from Rumi (in both Persian and English) at Wikiquote. The image below shows Rumi with his disciples in a 16th-century manuscript from Baghdad, and below is a video performance of his poetry in Persian:
