Tuesday, March 31

Today is Tuesday of Week 11. Here is a link to Week 11 and  all the Week 10 items are still available too (mega-grace period!). You can see how that all works here on the class calendar.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Online Learning Research. I've set up a "growth mindset challenge" you can complete by participating in research being done by an OU grad student named Murat Turk; you can find out more about Murat and his work at Twitter. So, if you're looking for a little extra credit, doing this survey would be a way option while helping out with some important research about online courses; here's the link to access the survey. Here's Murat... and yes, he really is from Turkey! He's a Fulbright Scholar from Istanbul.

Project Stack. If you turned in your assignment on Saturday, you should have comments back from me now. I'll get to work on the Sunday projects today! As always, you can check the stack to make sure I received your project. And THANK YOU for the good stories to read. Today felt almost-kind-of-sort-of normal since I got to read projects... and that felt good!

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. I'm not sure who added the new music video to the Padlet, but I thought it was cool that someone did that! Do you have some music that's helping you get through these hard times? If so, add it to the Padlet so others can listen. You'll see the Music item in the Canvas course menu:

Twitter Stream. Here's a cartoon I saw at Twitter with a choose-your-own-writing adventure... about writing! It's from Tom Gauld; larger view here.

And since today is the last day of March, here is a Covid-inspired item about this weirdly long month:

Myth-Folklore Video. Many of the world's stories are religious stories, and this video gives a quick overview of religions in time and space:

Words. And speaking of maps, here's a word from mythology: ATLAS, a Greek Titan who eventually gave his name to books of maps. Find out more.

Indian Epics Today. And today's Indian Epics character is one of the old Vedic deities, Indra, the storm-god whose weapon is the thunderbolt, and whose vahana, or vehicle, is the elephant Airavata. More about Indra.

India Video. In this video, you can learn about the Indian instrument called Sarod.

H.E.A.R.T.. Are there other Doctor Who fans in the class? Here is the Doctor's TARDIS to inspire your reading this week: Every book is a TARDIS!

Mindset Video. And on the subject of creativity, here is a great video from John Spencer: We Need a Bigger Definition of Creativity.

March 31: International Transgender Day of Visibility. You can read more at Wikipedia about this holiday in honor of transgender people. You can follow the holiday at Twitter with the hashtag #TDOV which is where I found this graphic for TDOV:
