Wednesday, April 1

Today is Wednesday of Week 11. Here is a link to Week 11 and also Week 12 if you are working ahead, and Week 10 is still available too (mega-grace period for Week 10 all this week; you can see how that works on the class calendar).

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. If you turned in your project before 6PM on Sunday, you should have comments back from me, and I'll keep on working on Sunday items today. You can always check the stack to make sure I received your project. And thank you for all the projects in the stack; I am having such a good week getting to read those stories. :-)

Writing Center. The OU Writing Center is a fantastic resource for this class, for any other class you are taking, plus any other kind of writing you might be doing, like a graduate school statement of purpose or a scholarship application. And yes, they are still offering consultations despite the campus closure. Find out more at the Writing Center website.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. This is actually a Storybook item instead of a blog post: despite being stuck at home, Camille was actually able to come up with the second cooking chapter of her Storybook, making ladoos at home with some creative ingredient substitutions. Plus a great story about Krishna and his brother Balarama! Epic Cooking: Ladoos.

Twitter Stream. A beautiful item from Norman Arts Council at Twitter with street art that children in Norman are making!

And there's a fun Twitter-story unfolding. It started with goats... and then it got even weirder:

Indian Epics Today. Today's Indian Epics character is Surya, the sun god. Find out more about Surya.

Indian Epics. This animation shows Rahu, the eclipse demon who chases the sun and the moon. You can read that story here

Myth-Folklore Video. Today's Myth video is from Crash Course: The Epic of Gilgamesh. It features a famous flood myth, plus other epic stuff:

Storybooks. And speaking of floods, here's a Storybook from last year with flood-stories-as-games: Flood Myths.

H.E.A.R.T.. This is a graphic from Caro Martini to inspire your reading today; reading can take you into new worlds:

Mindset Video. And for some growth mindset inspiration, here are Janelle Monae and the Muppets:

April 1: April Fools' Day. In this confusing time, I don't think there will be very much April Fools pranking for this year, but I still wanted to share one of my favorites: the "flying penguins" hoax from the BBC back in 2008. You can watch the video at YouTube: don't believe everything you see! :-)

Check out the Twitter stream for information and fun stuff during the day, or click here for past announcements.
