Saturday, April 11

Yes, it's the weekend at last! Today is Saturday of Week 12. Here is a link for working on Week 12, and you can find all the other weeks at the class calendar.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Grace period: Week 11. I'm guessing you are getting used to the way the mega-grace period is working so that weeks are not exactly over until a week later. So, it's Week 12 now, but Week 11 is still available there for you in Canvas. If you want to do any of those Week 11 assignments, make sure you do that this weekend! (It will close out on Monday at noon.)

Project Stack. On Friday I managed to reply to all the Week 11 assignments in the stack, and there were just a few Week 12 and Week 13 assignments that I did not get to; those will be at the top of the stack on Monday! Meanwhile, you can check the stack to make sure I received your assignment.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. People have been writing so many biography posts lately, which makes sense: being at home like this can lead to lots of reflection. In this post, Jinal wrote about being both sad and grateful during the lockdown: COVID-19.

Twitter Stream. Some of you in Indian Epics know Nina Paley, who made the film Sita Sings the Blues. Here's a cool animation she just shared at Twitter:

And here's a funny Covid-related item, ha ha:

Indian Epics Today. The character for today is the valiant Jatayu, who fought against Ravana, trying to rescue Sita. More about Jatayu.

India Video. This is an Epified video about tree worship in India: Why We Worship Trees.

H.E.A.R.T.. Plus some Advice from a Tree.

HEART Video. Here's a feel-good video for the weekend: Friends Furever.

H.E.A.R.T.. And here's a wonderful cartoon from Grant Snider: Interior Life. This is a good one for the Stay-Home-Save-Lives era!

April 11: Margaret of Navarre. Today is the birthday of the French writer Margaret, Queen of Navarre in the year 1492. You can read about her remarkable life and career at Wikipedia, and selections from her book The Heptameron will be one of the reading options coming up in the Myth-Folklore class! Here is her portrait:
