Changes to the course for Fall 2011. I got some great ideas from students last semester about some changes to make to the class, and there are also some nice changes at Ning, too! Here is an overview of changes to the class for this semester:
- New Ning editor. The new Ning editor makes it a lot easier to format blog posts, especially the images in blog posts. Plus, it is now super-easy to include videos in a blog post, too.
- Storybook Progress in Gradebook. Since so many people end up on their own non-regular schedule for the Storybook, I've added a new item to the Gradebook, a little note that will tell you just what assignment you have due next for your Storybook. I hope that will make things less confusing for everybody (including me!).
- New "Digital Life" assignment. I'm trying out a new assignment in Week 1, something I hope will be useful in letting you know more about my goals as a teacher who teaches online, and also as a way for me to learn more about your goals as a student.
- E-Storybook Central. Because of rumors that Yahoo may be shutting down Delicious (it's still unclear just what is going on), I decided to build a new website that has links to all the old Storybooks and to all the online books people might use as sources for their Storybooks. Here is the new website: E-Storybook Central. I hope you will find it helpful as you start planning your own Storybook project for the class.
