Thursday, October 27

Today is Thursday of WEEK 10. There is nothing due today, which makes it the perfect day to get ahead and/or do some extra credit. Or do you maybe want to finish the class early? (Three people have finished so far.) Now is the time to set that goal and get to work on it. Here is a link to this week's assignments.

Update: The Week 10 blog comment groups are ready to go! :-)

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. I was out of the office much of yesterday, but I did manage to get through projects turned in on Sunday before 8PM, and today I should be able to reply to all the rest of the projects that were turned in on Sunday. You can check the stack to make sure I received your assignment.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Multitasking. Words of wisdom: You can do anything, but not everything.

Writing. There's lots to ponder in this infographic: How Does the Act of Writing Affect Your Brain?

Words from India. This is one of my favorites: SERENDIPITY, which comes from "Serendip," an old name for Sri Lanka.

Storybooks Featured Storybook. This project is from the Myth-Folklore class: Heroes Revealed: The Truth. Charon the boatman has ferried many heroes to the shores of the afterlife. So that you can learn just what it means to be a hero, Charon will take you to meet Heracles, Beowulf, King Arthur, and Cleopatra, who will each tell you the stories of their own heroic deeds.

Free Book Online: The Life of Buddha by Andre Ferdinand Herold. See the Freebookapalooza blog for links and the table of contents. This is a wonderful book for learning about Gautama Buddha's life in India, and his enlightenment there.

Words of Wisdom: Today's saying is Every hour has its end (a saying of Sir Walter Scott). Find out more at the Proverb Lab. This is true for every hour, and for every semester too!

Today's Video: Why We Worship Trees. This is another one of those quick and informative videos from Epified:

Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat is ready to grow: Stretch yourself and reach your goal. You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.

Event on Campus: Today is the Spooktacular from 4PM-7PM at the Sam Noble Museum (details).

And after you go to the Spooktacular, you can watch the original Ghostbusters at 7PM on Walker-Adams Mall (details).
