Wednesday, April 26

Today is Wednesday of WEEK 14... and that means this is the last Storytelling post of the semester! I hope you will have fun writing one more story for your blog. Here is a link to this week's assignments.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. If you turn in something before 9PM on Sunday, you should have comments back from me, and I'll keep working on the Sunday assignments today! Meanwhile, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

Mix-and-match. As we get into the last days of the class, you can mix-and-match the assignments you want to reach the grade you want for the class (410/A, 360/B, 320/C). Any combination will work! I've also added a countdown widget in the sidebar of the blog to help you make sure you are on track to finish with the grade you want before the class is over next Friday. Let me know if you have any questions as you finish up!

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Writing. Think about who's telling the story: Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter.

Time. Some good advice: Just start! And for more time tips, see today's video below.

Words from Mythology. From the wandering Greek hero Odysseus we get the word ODYSSEY.

Featured Storybook. This project is from the Indian Epics class: To Sumitra, With Love. You know Sumitra as one of the wives of King Dasaratha, but in this Storybook you will see the young Sumitra as you read letters she receives from her father, a great warrior and adventurer who traveled all over ancient India.

Free Book Online: Today's free book is The Children of Odin by Padraic Colum. See the Freebookapalooza blog for links and the table of contents. The illustrations are by Willy Pogany!

Words of Wisdom: Today's saying is The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago; the second-best time is now (a Chinese proverb). Find out more at the Proverb Lab. This is true for trees... and other important projects!

Video: The video for today is Two Ways to be More Productive. Find out more about Bobby Chiu here.

Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat has a question for you: I like to learn. What's YOUR Superpower? You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.

Event on Campus: The 22 Annual OU Cousins BBQ is tonight at 6PM; buses start loading at Lloyd Noble at 5:45PM (details). Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.

April 26: Jet Li. Today, April 26, is the birthday of Jet Li, a Chinese martial arts master and film star, who was born in 1963. Happy Birthday, Jet Li! You can read more about Jet Li's life and career in this Wikipedia article. Jet Li has made some wonderful movies with mythological and legendary themes.
