Class Procedures and Reminders
Week 6 Project. By now everybody is on their own schedule (doing Storybook or Portfolio, adding or revising, etc.). I sent around reminders on Friday afternoon, so check your email, and if you have any questions, let me know. After you turn in your assignment (sending me the email with the checklist), you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.
Extra Credit. The "Backup and Review" extra credit option is perfect for the end of the week. Find out more in the extra credit section of this week's assignments.
The following items are for fun and exploration:
Class Twitter. From yesterday's Twitter @OnlineMythIndia, here is Rama shooting Ravana, and there is lots more at the #Dussehra Twitter stream. And you can find out more about Rama, Ravana, and Dussehra at Wikipedia.
Storybook Archive. This project is from the Myth-Folklore class: An Owl's Tale. A wise and sympathetic owl named Alice has been taken to an animal preserve because of her broken wing, and by the time her wing is healed she has told stories that charm the other birds and her human listeners too.
Story of the Day. Today's story is from Aesop's fables: The Father, The Son, and the Donkey. This is a very funny story about how you can't please everyone.
Video: The video for today is one of my favorite Maati Baani videos: Tore Matware Naina. Find out more about this wonderful collaboration with Joy Shanti at the YouTube page.
Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat is Difficult is not impossible. You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.
Event on Campus: Bizzell Library is open from noon to 2AM on Sundays (Library hours). Find out more about Bizzell's services.
October 1: International Day of Older Persons. The theme for this year: Stepping into the Future: Tapping the Talents, Contributions and Participation of Older Persons in Society. There's a Twitter hashtag too: #UNIDOP, and you can find out more at the United Nations website.
