Tuesday, November 7

Today is Tuesday of Week 12, and I've re-arranged the Modules area in Canvas so the new week is on top. The first reading is due today, and here is a link to this week's assignments.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. Yesterday I replied to all the projects turned in on Friday, and I'll be moving on to the Saturday projects today. While you are waiting on comments back from me about your Project assignment, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

Extra Credit. The Week 12 commenting assignment is ready to go and, like always, there's an extra credit commenting option available too. Find out more in the extra credit section of this week's assignments.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Class Twitter. From yesterday's Twitter @OnlineMythIndia, here is something from OU's own Keegan Long-Wheeler: a collection of interactive Twine stories, including Dana's story from her Myth-Folklore Storybook: Tragedy in Cate Center.

Reading. Words from Carl Sagan to ponder as you are doing this week's reading: Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.

Storybook Archive. This project is from the Myth-Folklore class: The Adventures of Office Medved the Bear. It's a typical day in a sleepy little town when Officer Medved gets up and goes to work... and his first case involves a bear who is making some very strange requests of the hikers he meets in the woods.

Free Book Online: Today's free book is The Happy Prince and Other Tales by Oscar Wilde. See the Freebookapalooza blog for links and the table of contents. You can find out more about the remarkable life and career of Oscar Wilde at Wikipedia.

Story of the Day. Today's story is from Aesop's fables: The Stag and the Vine. If someone helps you, be grateful, and that applies to plants as well!

Video: The video for today is Divine Beings. This is a video preview for one of the graphic novels in Bizzell for the Indian Epics class; more information here.

Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat is stretching and learning: A mind stretched by new experiences can never go back to its old dimensions. You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.

Event on Campus: The Scholastic Book Fair continues today in Ellison Hall 132, and there was an article about it yesterday in the OUDaily. Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.

November 7: Jan Matulka. Today marks the birthday in 1890 of Jan Matulka, the great Czech-American painter; you can read about his life and career at Wikipedia. He also did book illustrations, including Parker Fillmore's Czech fairy tale books:
