HAPPY FRIDAY! Today is Friday of Week 9. Here is a link to the Week 9 assignments and also to Week 10 for those of you ready to work ahead.

Canvas error message: There is a strange error message at Canvas for some of the class navigation links. The Modules and Gradebook should be working fine, but you may see some error messages on other links. I've reported the problem to Canvas and will let you know what I learn. Here's the error message you might see:

Class Procedures and Reminders

Finishing the class early. Here is a great demonstration that working ahead and doing some extra credit every week can help you to finish the class early... because Andy in Indian Epics has now finished for the semester. Congratulations to Andy!

Project Stack. I've replied to all the Week 8 items in the stack! There are some Week 9-10-11 items in the stack right now, and I'll reply to as many of those as I can today. You can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. I haven't shared a Wikipedia Trails in a while, so here is a fun one to show that you never know where you will end up: Mona went from Control System to Led Zeppelin ... and even more cool: "feedback" is one of the steps on the trail that she followed!

Featured Storybook. Here's what happens when someone from Myth-Folklore enrolls in Indian Epics the next semester: My Brothers Grimm: India Edition. Just what do the Brothers Grimm have to do with India? Meet John, the husband of Charlotte, sister to the Brothers Grimm... and when John finds himself in the midst of Indian epic adventures, Charlotte and her brothers are not far behind.

India Video. Here's a TEDx video from Sydney, Australian: Fabulous Indian Tabla and Tanpur.

Myth Video. Here's a follow-up to Gilgamesh in yesterday's announcements; this is the Crash Course video version: The Epic of Gilgamesh.

Myth Item. Here's a wise proverb from Mali: Goats cannot live in a herd of leopards.

Writing. This is definitely one of the sneakiest word pairs in English spelling: PEAK versus PEEK.

And here's a thought going into the weekend: What You Should Focus On.

Growth Mindset Cats. Speaking of focus: Feedback can help you focus.

You can create things with words... or with clay: it's all about stories! Teaching Stop Motion Animation.

Event on Campus. Come enjoy some tabletop role-playing games, including Dungeons and Dragon in Headington from 4PM to 8PM; beginners welcome! (details).

Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.

October 19: Dussehra. The Hindu holiday of Dussehra celebrates the victory of Rama over Ravana, good over evil — a story that is now very familiar to everybody in the Indian Epics class, and to some of you in Myth-Folklore also! You can read more about the festivities at Wikipedia. The ten-headed demon Ravana is often burned in effigy as part of the Dussehra celebration:

And here's an environmental Dussehra message in the Twitter stream:
