Thursday, October 25

Today is Thursday of Week 10. Here is a link to the Week 10 assignments (and Week 11 too). Some of you will be telling stories today, and some of you may be doing a "Story Lab" assignment: I hope you will have fun with whatever option you are choosing!

Class Procedures and Reminders

Mix and match. As you get into the final weeks of the semester, remember that "all points are created equal" in terms of finishing up the class. You can do as much or as little extra credit as you want, focus more on your project or more on your blog posts, etc. It's up to you to decide what assignments work best for you, and if you have any questions as you work on your plan for finishing up the class, just let me know.

Project Stack. If you turned in your project assignment before noon on Sunday, you should have comments back from me now. I'll keep working on the Sunday assignments today. As always, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. There are a lot of Tech Tips for working on your blog, and here's a fun one from Brenna: Tech Tip: Weather Widget.

Featured Storybook. Here's something scary as we head into Halloween season: Man-Eaters: Lillith's Lair of Lascivious Ladies. There are clubs . . . and then there is Lilith's club. You really should have thought twice before you entered, and you might start looking for an exit now, before it is too late!

Myth Video. Here's a Smithsonian video on Native American Ledger Art.

India Video. Here's a video about the great Bengali author Rabindranath Tagore.

India Item. And there's a Rabindranath Tagore on reserve in Bizzell too!

Writing. It's all about getting creative: Connect the Dots.

Plus some thoughts on Knowledge versus Wisdom.

Growth Mindset Cats. This cat wants to know more.

And here are some thoughts on the power to create.

Event on Campus. Professor R.C. Davis-Undiano's play "Day of the Dead" premieres tonight at 8PM in the Reynolds Performing Arts Center (details).

Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.

October 25: Chaucer. Today marks the death of the English poet Chaucer in the year 1400. You can find out more about his life and career at Wikipedia, and some of you may be reading stories from the Canterbury Tales in Myth-Folklore later this semester!

And here's one of Amy Burvall's mash-ups: The Canterbury Tales ("California Dreamin" by the Mamas and the Papas).
