Class Procedures and Reminders
Other people's stories. For the regular Week 3 blog comments, you will be reading people's stories from Week 2 and Week 3. Plus, if you are curious and want to read more stories, you can always do the extra credit commenting option that's available each week. Reading other people's stories can be a great way to ignite your own creativity!
Project Stack. I hope to get to all the assignments in the stack that were turned in before Friday at noon. As always, you can check the stack to make sure I received your assignment. I reply to the items in the stack in the order that they are turned in, so the sooner you turn in your next project assignment, the sooner you will get comments back from me next week.

Blog Stream. And the parade of pets continues, this time with the mighty Jupiter, Cody's cat. More about Jupiter.
Indian Epics Today. The Ramayana character of the day is Kaushalya, Rama's mother. More about Kaushalya; she is also the mother of Rama's sister, Shanta. This painting shows Kaushalya mourning the death of King Dasharatha:
Storybooks. This is an Indian Epics Storybook that goes in a very different direction in both time and in space, Rick and Morty: Earth C-137 Epics.
Words. And mantra is a Sanskrit word that has been adopted into English. More about the word mantra here. This image shows the OM syllable which can be used as a mantra:
Writing. The Devanagari alphabet seen in the OM mantra above is used in India, while this animation shows the evolution of the alphabets of Europe from a Semitic alphabet. For more information, see Wikipedia: The Alphabet.

Event on Campus. Today is the last day of Italy Week, including a Nutella Challenge from 10AM-11:30AM on the South Oval (details).
September 6: Robert Pirsig. Today marks the birthday of Robert Pirsig, who was born in 1928; he died in 2017. He is the author of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I first read this book when I was 16 years old and I've read it again probably another 20 times or more. It's about a motorcycle journey that Pirsig took across the country in 1968 together with his young son, Chris. Below is a picture from the trip, and you can learn more about Pirsig in this Wikipedia article. He was a remarkable thinker and writer.
