HAPPY WEEKEND! Today is Saturday of Week 3. If you have some assignments to finish up, here is a link to Week 3, and also to Week 4 if you are ready to go!

Class Procedures and Reminders

Extra credit Tech Tips. Now that you are looking at other people's blogs, you might get some ideas for features you want to add to your blog, and there are extra credit Tech Tips to help you with blog design experiments.

Project Stack. As people turn in assignments over the weekend, I'll update the stack periodically so you can check the stack to make sure I got yours. Then on Monday I'll start replying to the assignments in the stack based on the order in which they were turned in. If you want comments sooner, turn that project assignment in today instead of waiting till Sunday.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. In honor of today's game, here's a great picture from Camille's blog: Introduction of a Woman Who Loves to Yell Boomer Sooner.

Twitter Stream. Here's a nice item from the Classical Mythology Twitter account: Seshat was the ancient Egyptian goddess of writing, reading and knowledge.

Storybooks. And here's a great Egyptian Storybook from last year: Asking Anubis.

Indian Epics Today. The Ramayana character for today is Kaikeyi; here you can see her with her servant Manthara. More about Kaikeyi.

Story of the Day. Today's story is a Nigerian legend that answers this question: Why the Cat Kills Rats. It's the sad story of a royal rat in love.

Indian Epics. And here's another aetiological story; you can see the story here: The Origin of the Coconut. Vishvamitra is one of the characters in the story, someone those of you in Indian Epics know from the opening of the Ramayana.

Myth-Folklore Video. Here's another of those Crash Course videos; this time it's Noah's Ark and Floods in the Ancient Near East.

H.E.A.R.T.. And here's a thought in honor of the weekend from Molly Hahn of Buddha Doodles: No rush.

HEART Video. The pace of nature knows not to rush... as you can see in this time-lapse video accompanied by Brian Eno's Just Another Day.

Mindset Cats. The mindset cat agrees: It takes time for potential to flower.

Event on Campus. It's Game Day Open House at the Rawl Engineering Practice Facility from 2PM-5PM; you can meet members of the Sooner Rover and more (details). Here's the Rover with the Sower:

September 7: Jacob Lawrence: Today marks the birthday of the great 20th-century artist Jacob Lawrence in the year 1917. You can read about his life and remarkable career at Wikipedia. Here is a self-portrait from 1977:

Lawrence even did an illustrated edition of Aesop's fables; this image is his drawing for the fable of The Monkey and the Camel:
