Tuesday, January 21

Today is Tuesday of Week 2. If you have not started the Week 2 reading yet, today is the day to do that! Reading A this week is an overview of all the different reading options, and I hope you will have fun exploring and learning about the reading for the rest of the semester! Here is a link to the Week 2 assignments. (If you are finishing up Week 1 during the grace period this morning, here's that link: Week 1.)

Class Procedures and Reminders

Canvas Modules. Because of the holiday, the grace period for Week 1 lasts until noon this morning. Then, after noon, I will adjust the Modules in Canvas, moving Week 1 down to the bottom of the screen, with Week 2 up at the top. (Normally I do that on Monday afternoon instead of Tuesday, but this week is a little different because of the Monday holiday.)

Project Stack. Some people are already turning in their Week 2 Project assignments, which is great! As people turn those in, I'll update the stack, and you can always check the stack to make sure I received your assignment.

Introductions. I'll keep on reading Introductions this week and leaving comments. In addition, the randomizer is up and running for the Week 2 comments! The randomizer will be assigning you Introductions to read at random, and you may have gotten some comments on your Introduction already from people who have completed that Week 2 assignment.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

January 21: George Orwell. Today, January 21, marks the anniversary of the death of the English writer, George Orwell, in the year 1950 (he was born in 1903). He is the author of Nineteen Eighty-Four and also of Animal Farm, both of which are amazing novels. The image below is a poster advertising a movie version of Animal Farm from 1954:
