MORNING MORNING: I just learned a few minutes ago that there is going to be some unscheduled maintenance on an OU computer server that hosts some of the materials for this class. I don't think it will cause a problem with completing any of the assignments during the grace period, but if you run into trouble, let me know and we'll figure something out.
Class Procedures and Reminders
Success Tip: Explore the Canvas Calendar. I mentioned calendars and scheduling in yesterday's announcement, and there are some useful Canvas options, like synching the Canvas Calendar with your Google or Outlook calendar. Find out more in the Canvas Tech Tips.
Project Stack. As usual, the project stack is huge at the moment, and while you are waiting on comments back from me, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.
The following items are for fun and exploration:
Blog Stream. Taylor has explored one of my favorite features of storytelling online: you can add audio! Check out the Soundcloud audio in Taylor's post here, with HUGE THANKS to Taylor's very generous friend Kyle for the excellent voice performance. Wow!
India Video: Remember Jatayu from the Ramayana? Here is a video about a colossal Jatayu statue in India, erected on the spot where Jatayu supposedly fell to earth after his battle with Ravana: Giant Statue of Jatayu. It's tourism on an epic scale!
Myth Book Online: Today's free book is Fairy Tales from Far Japan by Susan Ballard. See the Freebookapalooza blog for links and the table of contents. The fairy tale tradition in Japan is very beautiful, and full of surprises because these are fairy tales as yet unknown to Disney. :-)
Proverb of the Day: This African proverb is a personal favorite of mine: An untouched drum does not speak. Let your drum speak! Find out more at the Proverb Laboratory.
H.E.A.R.T.: Here's an item to start off your week of reading: Keep calm, and wonder what to read next.
Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat is ready to stretch: Success is about stretching yourself. You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.
Video: And here's a beautiful remix of Mister Rogers, all about creativity: The Garden of Your Mind.
Event on Campus: There will be a Roundtable and Exhibit of Native American Art: “What is Representational Sovereignty?" tonight from 7:30PM-9:30PM at the Sam Noble Museum (details). Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.
