Class Procedures and Reminders
My schedule. I'll be away from my desk in the late morning and early afternoon, but I'll be back at work I hope before too late in the afternoon (and let's hope this is the last visit to the ophthalmologist; I've lost track of how many visits this iritis has required, blech). Anyway, if I am slow to respond to an email or message, don't worry: I'll get back to you by the end of the day.
Project stack. If you turned in something before Sunday at noon, you should have gotten comments back from me now. I'll keep working my way through the stack in the order received, and you can always check the stack to make sure I received your assignment.
The following items are for fun and exploration:
Blog Stream. I noticed this illustration by Kay Nielsen in Aly's reading notes post; Kay Nielsen is one of my favorite book illustrators! Here's the image, and you can read more about Kay Nielsen at Wikipedia.
Indian Epics Today. Carrying on with characters from Krishna's world, Balarama is Krishna's older brother. More about Balarama.
Storybooks. And here's a classical Storybook from the Myth-Folklore class last year: The Lovers of Apollo.
Words. This is another word we get in English from classical mythology: TANTALIZE from the punishment inflicted on the greedy Tantalus; details.
H.E.A.R.T.. Many of you are doing some reading for class today, so here is a graphic to inspire you: A book is a dream.
Mindset Cats. The mindset cat also recommends reading!
Writing Video. Maybe you will even make some new ideas...
Event on Campus. It's another Tuesday night Star Party at Bizzell; come use the telescope and binoculars for star gazing just outside the south entrance of Bizzell (details).
October 22: Dulac. Today is the birthday of Edmund Dulac, who was born on this day in 1882. He is another one of my favorite book illustrators! You can read more about his life and work at Wikipedia. Here is one of his illustrations for Fairy Tales of the Allied Nations:
