HAPPY WEEKEND! Today is Saturday of Week 4. Here is a link to Week 4 and also to Week 5 if you are ready to keep working on ahead this weekend.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. Yesterday I replied to all the projects turned in before Friday, and the Friday assignments will be at the top of the stack on Monday. I'll update the stack periodically over the weekend so you can check the stack to make sure I received your assignment.

Extra credit Mindest survey. (repeat announcement) Cat Jackson, a graduate student at OU, is conducting a survey about student self-confidence and online education, and that theme fits in perfectly with the growth mindset extra credit. So, if you are interested in doing some extra credit, you could help out this graduate student by completing here survey; details here. Plus, you might even win an Amazon gift card!

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Blog Stream. People did some Twine experiments for the Story Lab option this week, and I wanted to share this meta-Twine from Eden.

Twitter Stream. One of my favorite Twitter events is going on right now: #ColorOurCollections! Museums and Libraries are sharing free coloring books based on materials in their collections, like this one from the Folger Research Library:

Storybooks. Cats! Gods! Here's a Storybook from the past: The Cat Gods and the Tales of Heraclaws.

Mindset Cats. This mindset cat is ready to face today's dragons: Every day new and larger dragons come along.

Indian Epics Today. The character for today is a really cool one: Jambavan, the leader of Rama's army of bears. More about Jambavan. Here he is with Sugriva and Hanuman climbing a mountain:

India Video. Bickram Ghosh is one of my favorite musicians: Rhythm Jam.

100-Word Stories. Today's story is another Nasruddin story: The Grammatical Scholar (click title for more info).

Proverbs. Here's a wonderful proverb from Liberia about drums: An untouched drum does not speak.

H.E.A.R.T.. As the semester progresses, take some advice from Buddhist teacher, Jack KornfieldA day at a time.

HEART Video. And here's a feel-good video for the weekend from Pharrell Williams: Happy!

Event near Campus. Come see the musical “Into the Woods” at 8PM at the Main Street Event Center on 300 E. Main St. (details): "OU’s production reimagines the show’s well-known characters like Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella in a modern context. Through the incorporation of cellphones, influencer culture and casual costuming, the original message is illuminated for a 21st-century audience."

February 8: Nirvana Day. In some Buddhist countries, February 8 is celebrated as Nirvana Day or Parinirvana Day (in other countries the holiday is celebrated on February 15). On this day the Buddha left this life; as he died, he achieved "nirvana" which is a release from the cycle of life, suffering, death and rebirth. You can read more about this holiday at the BBC Religions website. The image below is a depiction from Thailand of the Buddha's parinirvana:
