Today is Monday. Week 4 is now over... and Week 5 has begun. The new week's topic in the Myth-Folklore class is stories from India and the Middle East, and in Indian Epics you'll be taking a different look at the Ramayana. You can find the week's assignments at the Class Calendar.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. THANK YOU to everybody for all the new project websites! While you are waiting on comments back from me about this week's assignment, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email. Tomorrow the Project Feedback assignment will be ready, and you can start exploring people's new projects.

Extra Credit. I've added some new quotes to the Growth Mindset padlet, and some new articles too; lots of good stuff to use if you want to do growth mindset extra credit. Find out more about all the extra credit options at this week's assignments.

Class Twitter. From yesterday's Twitter @OnlineMythIndia, a story about kvasir, the Norse mythological beverage. You can find out more about the mead of poetry at Wikipedia.


Words from Mythology. The English word TITANIC, from the name of the Greek gods known as Titans.


Storybook Archive. This project is from the Indian Epics class: Lifelong Devotion: Tales of Love at Karva Chauth. Karva Chauth is an Indian holiday in which women honor the power of love in their lives. In this Storybook, you will spend the holiday with Sita, Ahalya and Radha as they reflect on their dramatic love lives.


Free Book Online: Today's free book is Tales of the Persian Genii by Francis Jenkins Olcott. See the Freebookapalooza blog for links and the table of contents. The illustrations are by Willy Pogany, who also did the illustrations for the Turkish unit in the UnTextbook.


Story of the Day. Today's story is from the Buddhist jataka tales: Prince Wicked and the Grateful Animals. The grateful animals include a snake, a rat, and a parrot.
