Sunday, September 17

Today is Sunday of Week 4. You need to finish Week 4 today, and you might also want to do some extra credit and/or get started on next week's assignments. You can find all the assignments at the Class Calendar.

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. Many of you are creating your project websites today, which is great! I'll try to keep an eye on the email for any questions you might have, and I'll update the stack to list the emails that I've received.

Extra Credit. Now that it is the end of the week, it's the perfect time to do the "Back Up" extra credit option, checking on your progress last week, backing up your work, and taking a look through last week's announcements. Find out more in the extra credit section of this week's assignments.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Class Twitter. From yesterday's Twitter @OnlineMythIndia, I learned about The Great Moon Hoax of 1835. It's fake news from almost 200 years ago:

Creative Process. I can definitely relate to this cartoon from Introvert Doodles. Keep going until you feel brilliant!

Storybook Archive. This project is from the Myth-Folklore class: Queen of the Underworld. From rebellious teenager to Queen of the Underworld, Persephone has stories to tell that are full of drama and intrigue.

Free Book Online: Today's free book is Curious Creatures in Zoolog by John Ashton. See the Freebookapalooza blog for links and the table of contents. You will find familiar creatures here like the unicorn and basilisk, along with some more uncommon creatures like the lamb-tree!

Story of the Day. Today's story is one of the most famous Aesop's fables: The Boy who Cried Wolf. The illustration is from Bewick's edition of Aesop in 1784:

Video: The video for today is actually a Google advertisement, but it is so charming that I wanted to share it here: Friends Furever: Be together. Not the same.

Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat knows feedback is crucial: I get support from my peers. You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.

Event on Campus: The Writing Center is open in the Bizz Learning Lab 5PM-8PM on Sundays (details). Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.

September 17: Anant Pai. Today marks the birthday in the year 1929 of Anant Pai, the visionary genius behind the Amar Chitra Katha comic books that many of you have been enjoying in the Indian Epics class. You can find out more about Anant Pai here, and below is a Google Doodle in his honor:

This video tribute celebrates his life and accomplishments:
