HAPPY FRIDAY! You have reached the end of Week 10... which means just four more weeks to go, plus Dead Week. Here is a link to the class calendar. After you finish this week's assignments, you can start in on Week 11 if you want; those assignments are ready to go!

Class Procedures and Reminders

Project Stack. I made good progress yesterday; if you turned in an assignment before 6PM on Sunday, you should have gotten comments back from me, and I am sure I will get to all the Week 9 assignments today, plus as many of the Week 10 assignments as I can. While you are waiting on comments back from me about your Project assignment, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.

Finishing the Class. Either today or this weekend, I would urge each of you to make up your plan for finishing the class based on the last four weeks (plus Dead Week). You can use this Progress Chart to see how you are doing, and you can ponder which types of assignments you enjoy most/least as you decide how you will finish up the semester.

Extra Credit. I was gone for part of the week, but there were new announcements every day. If you didn't get a chance to read them all, use the Back-Up and Review extra credit option to take a look! Find out more in the extra credit section of this week's assignments.

The following items are for fun and exploration:

Class Twitter. From yesterday's Twitter @OnlineMythIndia, here is something from the Sam Noble Museum's Spooktacular.
Proverb. This Vietnamese proverb came from one of Vy's stories last semester: There will be no lotus if there is no mud. And congratulations to Vy on finishing up already this semester!

Storybook Archive. This project is from the Indian Epics class: Tales of the River Ganges. It is the river herself — mysterious, mesmerizing — who tells you her story.

Free Book Online: Today's free book is Yaqui Myths and Legends by Ruth Warner Giddings. See the Freebookapalooza blog for links and the table of contents. You can find out more about the Yaqui people at Wikipedia.

Story of the Day. Today's story is from the Indian Panchatantra: Mouse-Maid Made Mouse. A powerful sage turns a mouse into a woman, and then the time comes for her to marry: who will be her husband?

Video: The video for today is something fun from Maati Baani: Lagan Lagi Re. And you can find out more about Saw Lady, a.k.a. Natalia Paruz, at Wikipedia.

Growth Mindset: Today's growth mindset cat is making discoveries: The process of discovery is often messy and non-linear. You can find out more at the Growth Mindset blog.

Event on Campus: Bring a laptop and your 2D sketches/designs to the EDGE this Friday at 2PM to print your own 3-D jewelry (details). Find out more about this and other events at the Campus Calendar online.

October 27: Audiovisual Heritage Day. This is a United Nations celebration of our audiovisual heritage and its preservation for future generations. You can find out more at the United Nations website and also at the UNESCO website. Follow the #AudiovisualHeritage hashtag at Twitter to see what people share today!
