Class Procedures and Reminders
Project Stack. On Friday, I replied to all the Week 4 assignments in the stack, but there were a few Week 5/6/7 assignments I did not get to; those will be at the top of the stack on Monday. Meanwhile, you can check the stack to make sure I received your email.
Project Schedule. I also sent around email reminders on Friday to people about the Week 5 Project assignment. People are all on different schedules now: some doing Portfolios, some doing Storybooks, some one week behind, etc. It's all good, and if you are turning in a Week 5 project this weekend, you should have an email reminder from me in your inbox.
And THANK YOU to everybody who has their project website up and running now: it is really exciting to see those take shape this semester. The creative magic is going strong!
The following items are for fun and exploration:
Blog Stream. As you will see when you get to the Week 5 Feedback this weekend, there's a new "Pretend!" option, and I am so glad to see people experimenting with that; here's a comment from Asmodeus himself: This is Prince Asmodeus. So, if you get a "Pretend!" comment on one of your stories, that's what's going on. I hope everybody will have fun with this creative feedback strategy!
India Video. Here's a sneak preview of the Mahabharata, comparing it to Game of Thrones, from Epified TV.
India Item. Here's another English word that connects to India: SERENDIPITY, from "Serendib," one of the names for the island of Lanka.
Writing. In case you were wondering, yes, punctuation matters.
Growth Mindset Cats. I am a big fan of curiosity: Follow your natural curiosity and see what you learn.
Here's a chart to help you ponder your to-do list this weekend: Importance and Urgency.
And as you ponder your time and your choices, here's something to think about: The Time You Have (In JellyBeans).
Event on Campus. As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, come celebrate 9AM - 2PM at the Iglesia Pueblo de Dios on 2040 W. Boyd St. (details).
September 22: Equinox. Today is the autumnal equinox, so it is the first day of Fall; you can learn more about the astronomical details at Wikipedia. In the Wiccan "Wheel of the Year" (see image below), the arrival of Fall is celebrated as the holiday of Mabon, while in the southern hemisphere, it is the corresponding spring holiday of Ostara. You can see lots of tweets at the #Mabon Twitter stream today; that's where I found the Mabon graphic.
